We know you enjoy watching the birds returning to your feeders healthy and happy….
We work very hard to ensure every blend is specifically formulated with a range of seeds that will not only keep the birds flocking to your feeders and gardens, but will provide the nutrition necessary to thrive and keep them coming back for more. Our seed mixes can be fed in a variety of ways ~ in feeders, trays, platforms or on the ground.
Caledon Mountain Wildlife Supplies has had a long association with providing a quality product when it comes to effective, fresh bird seed blends. We maintain high standards sourcing our ingredients to ensure the highest quality of raw materials are used for our custom seed blends.
The general rule of thumb is, the more varieties of food you put out the greater number of species you will attract. They look for the food that offers the best source of energy, the higher the calories the better as far as birds are concerned.
Custom Bird Seed Blends
All our custom seed blends are Black Oil Sunflower based, which is like the “meat & potatoes” to any quality birdseed. Black Oil Sunflower is widely preferred by most of the bird species here in Ontario. Our seed blends are made from 100% edible seed formulated for feeding preferences for the birds in your area. That means you only pay for fresh seed that will attract the birds you want in your garden or backyard space.
TRADITIONAL BLEND
The best value for your money. Attracts the widest variety of birds. Black Oil Sunflower, Striped Sunflower and Peanuts satisfies the birds in your seed feeder and white and red millet appeals to sparrows, finch and mourning doves on the ground. Sold in 40 lbs only.
CALEDON CLASSIC (with and without corn)
A great balanced all-purpose mix that’s a bump up from our Traditional Blend containing Black Oil Sunflower, Peanuts, millets and grains, Sunflower Hearts and Safflower all blended with corn. Also available with No Corn added. Sold in 2 different sizes.
CARDINALS CHOICE
Your Cardinals will love it !! Black Oil Sunflower, extra Sunflower Hearts and extra Safflower, clean cut corn, with millets and grains and NO peanuts. Sold in 2 different sizes.
SUPREME BLEND
All the good stuff the birds want and minimal fillers added. An excellent blend of Black Oil Sunflower, Striped Sunflower, Peanuts, Safflower, Sunflower Hearts, White Millet and just a smidge of corn. Sold in 2 different sizes.
MILLET FREE MIX
This is the best of the best!! By far our highest quality blend with absolutely NO millets. Black Oil Sunflower, Striped Sunflower, Safflower, Sunflower Hearts, Peanuts and just a splash of corn & wheat. Sold in 2 different sizes.
NO MESS MIX
This blend is a favourite, especially in the summertime. Just 3 simple ingredients: Blanched Peanuts, Sunflower Hearts and Clean Cut Corn. It’s a nice clean way to feed the birds and they will LOVE IT !! Great for feeders in the garden ’cause nothing is going to germinate below the feeders. No shells at all in this mix; so nothing to clean up in your yard. Sold in 25 lbs only.
FINCH FEAST (Regular)
The best variety in small song bird mixes. Attracts Finches, Indigo Buntings, Warblers along with many other songbirds to your feeders. Suitable for small port finch feeders. Nyjer , Flax, white, red & amber millets, Canola seed and Canary seed. Sold in 2 different sizes.
FINCH FEAST DELUXE
4 Ingredients: Crushed Sunflower Hearts, Nyjer, White Millet and Canary Seed. The oil from the sunflower hearts provide more nutritional value and results in brighter feathers and better health.
Seeds Only
Black Oil Sunflower.
A seed that most birds look for. It has the highest content of fats and oils birds thrive on which makes it a favourite. Large, shiny and glossy seed represents the freshest of product.
Sunflower Chips (HEARTS)
Sunflower Hearts are the meat of the sunflower seed without the waste of the shells. One of the bestselling seed that provides birds extra energy. I haven’t met a bird yet that doesn’t love the hearts!! Non seed eating birds such as the Thrush and Robins who have problems opening the outer husk of conventional seeds truly enjoy this treat. No shells mean no clean-up for you. A nice clean way to feed all your birds.
Peanuts
Peanuts are provided raw without the shell which is preferred by Chickadees, Nuthatches and Woodpeckers. Orioles love them too as a change of diet from their usual fruits, jellies and nectar. We also carry them with the shell on for the Blue Jays in your life. Sold in several different sizes to suit your needs.
Safflower
Trying to avoid feeding Grackles, Starlings and Squirrels? This may be the solution. Its bitter properties are not a preference. Many birds enjoy safflower. A very good choice for patios and decks where squirrels and blackbirds can be a problem. Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Cardinals, Chickadees and Finches love this seed.
Nyjer
Nyjer, niger or thistle ~ a small irresistible black seed the birds can’t get enough of. It is the seed of an African daisy (Guizotia abyssinica )known as Niger, stemming from the plants origin of Nigeria. It is sterilized by intense heat to prevent germination. It is a type of oilseed that is very popular to attract House and Purple Finches, American Goldfinches, Song Sparrows and Pine Siskins. The biggest problem with this feed is the mess from spent hulls and seed. The Juncos and other ground feeders will love the spillage but it can choke out the growth of your grass. Adding a tray or a platform underneath should minimize the spillage.
Suet
Traditionally used in winter months suet offers additional dietary needs during critical periods of migration, moulting and breeding. In addition to the winter, bird parents use this supplement in the summer to provide added nutrients to their new hatchlings. Suet s fantastic for all the clinger birds… ie: Woodpeckers, Nuthatches, Chickadees.
We carry a variety of suet sold in plugs, balls and cakes specially blended for summer use as well as the traditional suet for used during winter months to supplement your seed mixes or peanuts to attract a wide variety of birds to your yard.
